The Model 2 was Seth Thomas's first hunting watch, conceived in 1886 and produced the following year. It was a skeletonized 3/4-plate design with a graceful cantilever over the center wheel pivot that continued the long pallet escapement. This beautiful 15-jewel Grade 152 carries the famous patent date of December 1887 and is fully restored with a new mainspring and a full set of blued screws. It fronts a very unusual unsigned Roman-numeral dial behind light spade hands, and the 25-year Keystone case has tight hinges, a vintage watchmaker's label on the cuvette, and a new glass crystal.

Hamilton 992

$375.00

The pattern on Hamilton's first-model 16-size 992 mimicked their workhorse 940, with simple pinstripes coming later. This beautiful freshly-serviced 21-jewel lever-set example is adjusted to five positions, and has the two-screw crown wheel and gold jewel settings. The original 4-foot dial has some hairlines behind matching blued spade hands, and the crisp Illinois nickel-silver case has a sharp crown, a tight bow, and a new beveled glass crystal.

The Model 3 replaced the Model 1 in 1888, and the 15-jewel Adjusted Grade 96 was the highest grade that the company offered at that point. This incredibly clean example is the second movement from the second block of a hundred and was just serviced with a new mainspring. All the jeweling is original, and it comes with a complete blued hardware package, a correct Roman dial with the matching signature, and light spade hands. The nickel-silver case would make an excellent display candidate with it's copper bezel trim ring and matching pendant nut, and new glass crystal.

Convertible Elgin

$295.00

One of Elgin's more curious designs was their 16-size Model 1, nicknamed the Convertible because of its movable winding pinion to either an open-face or hunting configuration. This fully-restored 15-jewel Grade 50 dates from the early 1880s and looks to be an original combination, with gold balance weights and matching hardware, a flawless Roman dial, correct plum moon hands, and a 25-year gold-filled Dueber case with a new glass crystal and a French bow.

Seth Thomas Monarch

$295.00

The Monarch grade was fairly scarce, found so far in just four serial number blocks and totaling roughly 250 watches, according to Seth Thomas Research. This completely-restored 18-size 7-jewel Model 5 comes in the elegant pinstripe pattern and is the highest one logged at SN 305,212. Even better is the matching dial, complete with a correct set of blued hands. The lack of ghost marks on the 20-year gold-filled Star case means this could be an original combination.
